Summer Reading Guides

Dear Parents,

With the end of the school year we know that you are making plans for your child’s summer vacation activities. Research has consistently documented the importance of summer reading. Students who read recreationally during the summer have success when the new school year begins. Most importantly, when parents and children enjoy summer reading together, children develop a love of books and reading that lasts a lifetime.

  1. Your child  in grades 2-5 is required to select a book from the list given and also select a project from the list.
  2. All students in grades 6-8  must read a book from the  Mandatory Book List and ONE book of their choice from the Summer Optional Reading list.
  3. All projects are due the FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL and will be evaluated by your child’s language arts teacher during the first trimester of school.

Happy Reading!
